Hanging in there. Furrrr Bear Life. The Truth of the Matter is: the Panda Bear is one of the most
Loved creatures on Earth. They are lively playful beings with profound personality. These featured
here are American Panda Bears, well at least for the next 10 years. They are on Loan from China.
And they live in Washington D.C. at the National Zoo. Do we as people have the bears here to study,
as some might think ? Or is it really that life has brought them to US "To LEARN from." They used to
keep them apart, except during brief interludes when they were taken to mate. Now we have learned
they are very social animals. This Bear and a playmate interact at least 50% of the time through the
day. They play together and they even eat and sleep near each other. Credit given where credit due:
This is the April 2001 cover of The Smithsonian Magazine. Hanging in there is the female: Mei Xiang.
And she is not the morning type. So Tian Tian, the male, gets up early and tries to wake her. First,

he rest his upper body on her (that is the gentle approach). When that does not work: he walks on her.
And one time she still did not wake up. So he just kept pushing her and pushing her until she woke up.
